Dormant oil in combination with Lime Sulphur is an excellent
IPM method of controlling many insects and diseases without
the use of harsh and unpleasant chemicals. Applied in the
Dormant season this spray will coat the tree with oils that will
suffocate most over wintering pests and eggs such as Spider
mites, Aphids, Thrips, and Scales. Lime Sulphur will help
control many fungal diseases such as Spot diseases, Rust,
Powdery Mildew, and Brown Rot.
Why apply Dormant Oil / Lime Sulphur?
Applying Dormant Oil and Lime Sulphur to your deciduous trees,
not only helps control spring infestations of insects but also the
early spread of diseases - common during our wet spring
months. Spraying your trees will also cut down on the use of
pesticides by decreasing the likelihood of spring infections
therefore cutting future spraying costs.
Safety
Horticultural oils / Lime Sulphur are extremely low in toxicity to
humans, pets, and wildlife, due in part to their lack of residual
life on vegetation. They pose little threat to any natural
enemies of your target pests.
Timing
This spray takes place over the winter months after leaf drop.
